HALO42 was born at the intersection of beauty, mental wellness, and the simple yet radical act of self-love. Co-founded by Mark A. Turnipseed, a mental wellness advocate and author, and Tim Quinn, a renowned makeup artist and former VP of Armani Beauty, HALO42 is more than a skincare brand—it’s a movement toward wholeness.
For Tim, beauty has always been about more than makeup. After decades in the fashion industry and a courageous battle with cancer, he began to seek something deeper—a form of beauty that heals rather than hides. For Mark, the journey was different but no less transformative. As a man who battled and overcame addiction and depression stepping into the skincare space was an act of reclaiming joy and reimagining life from disparity to beauty.
Together, they envisioned a brand that would celebrate all identities, inspire radical self-acceptance, and help people feel good in their own skin—literally and emotionally.
The Meaning Behind the Rainbow
At HALO42, we draw inspiration from the Circumzenithal Arc—a rare phenomenon often called the “upside-down rainbow.” Visible only at a 42-degree angle, this radiant curve appears not after a storm, but often in clear skies. To us, it represents hope that exists in the midst of life’s hardest moments—not just after they pass.
The rainbow holds layered meaning for HALO42. It reflects the promise of divine restoration from connecting to love of one's self and the inclusive spirit of the LGBTQ+ community. Before Mark came out as bisexual, he had long feared the beauty counter—yet discovered unexpected freedom and joy in the ritual of skincare. For him, the rainbow is a personal symbol of transformation: proof that healing and identity can coexist, and that beauty belongs to everyone.

Después de crear Halo42, Tim y Mark se embarcaron en un viaje enriquecedor para buscar los secretos más importantes del mundo para el cuidado de la piel. Su primera parada fue descubrir si la cultura brasileña tenía algún secreto para la piel más elevada y buscada.
Allí descubrieron la magia de la Copaiba, una preciosa resina conocida por sus increíbles beneficios en el cuidado de la piel. Aprendiendo de expertos locales, profundizaron en la antigua sabiduría de Copaiba y sus notables propiedades.
